Constitution For Alberta
In 1981 Canadians got a new constitution, but no one cheered. In our hearts and our bones we knew it was not our constitution. We had had no part in its creation. In addition it wasn’t a “real” constitution but a “CHARTER” which if you look for a definition….” A charter is the grant of authority or rights, stating that the granter formally recognizes the prerogative of the recipient to exercise the rights specified. It is implicit that the granter retains superiority (or sovereignty), and that the recipient admits a limited (or inferior) status within the relationship” thanks to wiki
As such we have permissions in Canada and not inherent rights given by a creator.
We needed so many things….a constitution with a triple-E senate and an end to bilingualism. We needed a constitution we could all understand. We needed a constitution which could not be changed without our consent. we needed an acknowledgement that man is able to govern ones self and that rights flow from a loving creator and not retained by a person who knows better and governs man, and granted privileges temporarily to his/her subjects.
But Quebec and Ontario would never agree. They would have to give up too much. They would lose their power to control our government. The changes we need will never occur within confederation.
That is why a constitution needs to be written for an independent Alberta.
only in the laboratory of the province can Canadian freedom be formulated and attempted.
